Hormone Testing at Body TLC

Body TLC offer several tests to enable you to understand your body and its hormone levels, although labelled as "Male" and "Female" Hormone testing, these tests are suitable for all genders wishing to monitor their levels. Hormones are taken in clinic from a sample of blood drawn from your arm.

What do our Hormones do?

Hormones support many bodily functions, including: fertility, metabolism, mood, and sleep. What do our Hormone tests measure?

Our test measures: Oestradiol, Progesterone, Follicle-Stimulating Hormone, Luteinising Hormone, Prolactin, Testosterone, Sex Hormone Binding Globulin, and Free Androgen Index. Suitable for male and female, including those transitioning and wishing to keep an eye on changing hormone levels.

 

Male fertility Tests

Our Male fertility tests will require a specimen collecting, when making your advanced booking you will be talked through requirements.

Our Standard Male Fertility test measures if the sperm count is considered 'normal' (above 15million) or 'below normal'.

Our Advanced Male Fertility test measures with clinical accuracy your personal sperm count.

Testosterone and Cortisol​

Our Simple Testosterone Test measures only testosterone, suitable for all genders who may wish to

test, especially those interested in training and bulking up body muscles.

Our Cortisol Stress Test measures the cortisol levels in your body. High levels of stress can cause

symptoms like: insomnia, headaches, fatigue, weight gain, skin rashes, abdominal pain, back

problems, dizziness, and increased susceptibility to infection.

PLEASE NOTE:

All tests must be pre-booked at least one week in advance. The Hormone tests require a 6 hour

fast, and blood to be drawn before 12 noon, Monday - Thursday​​​.

Female Hormone Testing

What levels do we test?

 

  • Oestrogen - This fluctuates during the menstrual cycle and initiates level lead to the egg maturing and being released.

  • Progesterone - Aids in the thickening of the uterus lining for fertilisation.

  • Follicle-Stimulating Hormone - Regulates and stimulates the growth and function of the ovaries

  • Luteinising Hormone - This level changes to trigger ovulation

  • Prolactin - For aiding breast development and lactation

  • Testosterone - Essential for bone density, muscle mass, libido, mood and energy

  • Sex Hormone Binding Globulin - Helps to regulate your sex hormones.

  • Free Androgen Index -  a useful indicator of abnormal androgen status in conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome and hirsutism

Male Hormone Testing

What levels do we test?

 

  • Testosterone - looks at your sexual drive, it aids muscle mass, and supports hair growth.

  • Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG) - Helps to regulate your sex hormones.

  • Free Testosterone - similar to testosterone, but more freely available in your body.

  • Lutenising Hormone - Causes your testicles to make testosterone.

  • Oestradiol - This is male oestrogen, it aids sexual function, libido, and the production

       of sperm.

  • Prolactin - This needs to be balanced, as high levels can cause low sperm

       production, and low levels can cause loss in: energy, muscle, strength, and libido.

  • Follicle-Stimulating Hormone - Helps control the amount of sperm the

       testicles make.

  • Albumin - Transports hormones, amongst other things around your body.
